Maryland Computer Engineering Schools

If you are ready to enter the field of computer engineering, you can start by attending one of the seven computer engineering schools in Maryland. Five of these schools offer Associate’s degrees and Bachelor’s degrees. If you want to earn an advanced degree, you can earn a Master’s degree or PhD at four schools in Maryland.

A Master’s degree involves earning 30 credits, and you may be able to complete it in two years if you if you go to school full-time. A PhD takes an average of seven years, because you have to write and defend a thesis in computer engineering.

The average cost of tuition in Maryland is $16,300, but it is important to remember that the cost of tuition differs from school to school. Tuition costs tend to be lower two-year colleges and public colleges.

Applying for scholarships can help you lower your educational costs. The County Engineers Association of Maryland awards the Roger H. Willard Scholarship to engineering students every year. Northrop Grumman is a company that funds scholarships for engineering students all over the country.

Before you can begin working as an engineer in Maryland, you have to get your license from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulations. You have to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, which is administered by the NCEES two times per year. After passing your exam, you can apply for licensure from the board.
