Missouri Computer Engineering Schools

Earning a degree in computer engineering is the first step to starting this exciting career. In Missouri, there are a total of 10 schools that have this program. Seven of these schools have Associate’s degree programs, and nine schools have Bachelor’s degree programs. There are six Master’s degree programs in the state and four PhD programs.

If you want to earn an Associate’s degree in this field, you can expect to spend about two years in school to earn 60 credits. Another option is the Bachelor’s degree. A Bachelor’s degree takes four to five years to earn, because you need to complete at least 120 credits. Some of the courses that you may have to take at this level include Computer Organization, Network Analysis, and Computer Architecture.

You can earn a Master’s degree or PhD if you want to start a career in teaching or research. A Master’s degree requires the completion of 30 credits, which should take about two years. A PhD, which requires the completion of a thesis, takes an average of seven years. Some of the classes you may take in either of these degree programs are Embedded Systems, Parallel Computer Architecture, and Advanced Coding Theory.

The average cost of tuition in Missouri is $11,900. However, it is important to know that there is a wide range of tuition costs in the state. You can save money on your tuition by applying for grants and scholarships.

As a Missouri student, you have many different engineering scholarships available to you. The American Concrete Institute Missouri Chapter funds several different scholarships each year, many of which are awarded to engineering students. Another option is the William R. Kimel, PE Scholarship. This scholarship is only open to Missouri and Kansas engineering students.

After completing your engineering degree, the next step is applying for licensure through the Missouri Division of Professional Regulation. This process involves taking the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, which is administered twice per year by NCEES. After you pass this exam, you can apply for your license. Once you receive your license in the mail, you can begin working as an engineer.
