Civil engineers in New Jersey will need to pass many exams including; the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination. Although the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination can be waived if you have 15 or more years of experience in the United States in this field.

According to the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety Division of Consumer Affairs, to become licensed as a Professional Engineer you must have graduated from an approved four-year program and have a minimum of four hours in related experience. If that is not the case, students with a related board approved degree and six years of related experience can apply.

Although it can be tough and the exam process can seem overwhelming it is a very fast growing career opportunity. With wages around $80,000 per year it is worth the hassle in the beginning to end up with a fast growing, well paying job.
